Real Mushrooms | Mushrooms good for you

Can I eat Mushrooms?

Yes, you can eat mushrooms! They are nutritious and delicious food that can be added to many meals. However, it's important to only eat mushrooms from a reliable source as some types are toxic. Mushrooms are a low-calorie, antioxidant-rich superfood that can be used as a meat substitute and come in many shapes and sizes. Also, make sure to prepare them properly for the best health benefits. When in doubt, consult a health professional for the best advice. Mushrooms are a type of fungi and are not plants, so they do not produce their own food through photosynthesis as plants do. Instead, mushrooms get their nutrients from dead or decaying matter. Some mushrooms are poisonous and can make you very sick if you eat them. If you're not sure whether a mushroom is safe to eat, it's best to err on the side of caution.

What are the benefits of eating mushrooms?

Eating mushrooms on a regular basis can help improve heart health, aid in weight loss, reduce the risk of cancer, boost the immune system, provide essential antioxidants, strengthen bones, regulate proteins that kill bacterial and viral infections, reduce signs of aging, reduce the risk of cognitive issues, and prevent Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Furthermore, mushrooms contain B vitamins, vitamin D, potassium, and selenium, all of which can help with metabolic and thyroid functions. Additionally, their anti-inflammatory properties could be beneficial in the treatment of breast cancer.

Superfoods + Cancer-Prevention Diet!

Mushrooms are classed as a superfood as they are full of nutrients and have many health benefits. Studies have shown that consuming just 18 grams of mushrooms daily can reduce the risk of cancer by up to 45%, while also providing essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Furthermore, mushrooms are a great low-calorie and low-fat alternative to red meat and can even help with weight loss and weight management due to their high fiber content. Eating mushrooms every day is a great way to get the most out of their nutritional benefits.

Which mushroom is the healthiest?

It is widely accepted that shiitake mushrooms are the most nutritious of all mushrooms. They are packed with vitamin D, amino acids, and fatty acids, which can help boost immune function, increase energy levels, and promote weight management. On top of that, shiitake mushrooms also contain a high amount of fiber, making them a great choice for those looking to promote gut health. Other varieties of mushrooms, such as white mushrooms, enoki, porcini, oyster mushrooms, and portobello mushrooms, also provide a variety of health benefits. However, when it comes to the most complete health benefits, shiitake mushrooms are the clear winner.

A HUMBLE START

The beginning of Real Mushrooms

Real Mushrooms was created to emphasize the fact that these products are solely made from mushrooms. They emphasize the term “Real” because many so-called “mushroom” products do not contain mushrooms.

Mentor

Real Mushrooms came into existence through long discussions with my father, Jeff Chilton, founder of Nammex, the leading supplier of organic mushroom extract ingredients to supplement companies. All of their organic mushroom extracts come from Namexx.

Jeff is an instrumental figure in the creation of the now-booming medicinal mushroom product category. With over 40 years of mushroom growing experience, he was one of the first to bring mushroom extracts to the North American market and organized the first organic mushroom growers workshop in China back in 1996. He was then one of the first to bring organic mushroom extracts to the North American market.

MUSHROOM PRODUCTS

With no Mushrooms…

Through the founder's discussions with Jeff, he learned that the medicinal mushroom marketplace was dominated by products that did not contain any mushrooms. These products are produced from mycelium (the root system of the mushroom) being grown on grain. Commonly marketed as “mushrooms” yet they contain no mushrooms at all. On top of that, the grain is not separated from the mycelium so these products are primarily the grain that the mycelium is growing on.

Many consumers and even health practitioners are being misled into believing they are consuming mushrooms when in fact the products are nothing more than mycelium cultured grain, much like the food product Tempeh. Very few of the important medicinal compounds found in medicinal mushrooms are contained in these products since the bulk of the product is grain.

REAL MUSHROOM ORIGINS

An Opportunity…

With this knowledge, the founder saw an opportunity to develop a product line based on the mushroom itself. His goal was to educate the public on how medicinal mushrooms are grown, what to look for in a medicinal mushroom product, and ensure that his products were consistent with the scientific research.

WHERE DOES REAL MUSHROOMS SOURCE FROM

Real Mushrooms also wants to be completely open to the fact that their mushrooms come from China as this is a very important issue that many people do not fully understand.

China has a rich history of mushroom use and is the birthplace of mushroom cultivation, beginning as early as the 12th century. It is one of the only places you can obtain pure organic mushroom extracts for supplement use. China also produces over 85% of the world’s mushrooms.

It is unfortunately not economically feasible to grow mushrooms for supplements in North America. The mushroom-growing economics do not work for supplements. This is why “U.S. Grown” products are made from grain-based mycelium and not mushrooms.

STRONG COMMITMENT…TOP QUALITY PRODUCTS

Real Mushrooms is driven by the desire to deliver the best possible medicinal mushroom extracts in their purest form, without any carriers or grain fillers. They strive to make sure all products are analyzed for important medicinal compounds and are consistent with the existing body of medicinal mushroom research.

This ultimately means that when you try these mushroom products, you will have the best possibility to experience the unique benefits that medicinal mushrooms have to offer.

We hope you enjoy Real Mushrooms as much as we do.
