A 2017 visit to Herboristerie de la Place Clichy in Paris would unfold into a two years worldwide search for the right combination of ingredients sourced from the best suppliers in the world. A long way from their native homes in Sydney and Mexico City, the two founders grew up worlds apart but with the same family ethos. Lipstick was like bread and milk – an everyday essential.
By 2019 Gabriela’s promise had become reality. The team’s female chemist had achieved a clean beauty coup d'etat: Mānuka honey rich goodness synthesized with a tsunami of clean ingredients. Madame Gabriela's family of beekeepers place their hives in a beautifully remote corner of New Zealand's North Island, with each perfect batch the result of the unique terroir of this area. All that honeybee foraging results in a Mānuka honey that is rich, raw, unpasteurized, non-GMO verified, Halal, Kosher, gluten-free and certified organic. Before leaving for Los Angeles, it is independently tested and certified in New Zealand using the Unique Mānuka Factor (UMF™) grading system, which verifies it for quality, purity and authenticity. To be considered potent enough to be therapeutic, Mānuka honey needs a minimum rating of UMF 10, while Madame Gabriela's honey boasts a rating of UMF 15+.
Each precious batch of this authentic New Zealand Mānuka honey is minimally processed and delivered by hand to Madame Gabriela's state-of-the-art facility in California. It’s gently warmed, filtered and added to 26 clean and organic ingredients.
