What is radiant skin?

Radiant skin is luxurious, smooth, and even-toned skin that has a subtle, healthy-looking glow. It is difficult to describe, as there is no quantifiable measurement of how radiant skin appears, but it is that lit-from-within glow that celebrities and athletes always seem to have.

Naturally radiant skin is not necessarily poreless or wrinkle-free but rather is characterized by its luminosity, smoothness, and evenness. Achieving radiant skin can be done through simple skin solutions and holistic skincare routines, using clinically proven products designed to boost radiance and give skin a gorgeous, healthy-looking glow. Codex Antu Collection and Bia Collection are treatments to help individuals enhance their own unique beauty. They offer timeless skin solutions using the highest quality products to help customers achieve their ultimate goals, with very little or no downtime. With lasting skin solutions, Codex Beauty offers the best in advanced skin and body solutions to help clients look and feel confident in their own skin.

Radiant skin is characterized by a healthy, even complexion with a natural glow. To achieve radiant skin, it is important to cleanse and exfoliate the skin regularly, use products that are suited to your skin type, and get plenty of rest and hydration.

How can I get radiant skin?

The key to getting radiant skin is to follow a holistic skincare routine and use advanced skincare solutions. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get the glowing, healthy-looking skin you desire. 1- Cleanse your skin twice a day. Use a gentle cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. 2- Exfoliate. Use a gentle exfoliator to remove dead skin cells and help promote cell turnover. 3- Use a serum. Pick a serum with ingredients like Vitamin C, which helps to neutralize free radical damage and improve the signs of aging. 4- Use a toner to help balance the pH level of your skin. 5- Apply a moisturizer. Choose a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type. Use an SPF. 6- Apply sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher to help protect your skin from sun damage. Reapply throughout the day. Be sure to reapply your sunscreen every two hours.

There are a number of things you can do to get radiant skin, including eating healthy foods, drinking plenty of water, using gentle cleansing products, and exfoliating on an as-needed basis. You can also try using a natural skin serum or moisturizer to help boost radiance.

Plant-based skincare & biotech skincare

Our patented AntüComplex® is packed with the power of bio-actives from three Patagonian plants known for their ability to soothe irritation and reduce inflammation. Each plant addresses skin inflammation in distinct yet synergistic ways.

(Buddleja Globosa) contains powerful antioxidants such as flavonoids which help soothe irritated skin.

(Aristotelia chilensis): traditionally used to treat inflammation, it contains polyphenols with high anthocyanin content. In addition, it can help boost sun protection by inhibiting UVB-induced cell damage.

(Ugni Molinae): traditionally used to treat inflammatory conditions, it contains polyphenols such as flavonols and is a powerful source of antioxidants.

(e.g., Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid or Glycerin) helps the skin hydrate and retain moisture, thereby providing priming to enhance the activity of the antioxidants.

Other plants or fruit extracts from South America are known for their immuno-stimulant and analgesic properties. For example, for daytime products like the Moisturizer and Serum, we add Box Bean (Entada Phaseoloides) that contains anandamide A, which inhibits inflammation, while serving as a U.V. absorber and Phaseoloidinis, a free radical scavenger.

Eco-Friendly Sustainable Skincare, Down to a Science

Sustainability and fair trade principles are fully integrated into all core areas of our business. Our goal is to be carbon footprint neutral by 2025.

Reduced Carbon Footprint

radiant facial

We utilize sugarcane-based polyethylene (green P.E.) tubes for our cream/gel products and 50% PCR PET bottles for our liquid products. We ensure that all paper-based packaging (leaflets, cartons, corrugate) is either PEFC or FSC certified for sustainable forestry. We will implement recycling programs to minimize ocean plastic in 2023.

Green PE

Green Polyethylene (P.E.) is chemically identical to fossil-fuel-based P.E. Still, made from sugar cane, a renewable resource that locks carbon dioxide from the air as the plant grows. As a result, our tubes have a negative carbon footprint based on a lifecycle analysis (LCA) done by the Carbon Footprint Society. Land utilization is also very efficient:3. Tons of Green PE can be produced from 1 hectare (2 U.S. football fields) of sugarcane farmland and is converted into 200,000 x 50 mL tubes or 600,000 x 15mL tubes. So our 2022 production needs are met by an area comparable to 4 U.S. football fields.

PCR Plastics

Using post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics has several environmental benefits. Recycling reduces the amount of plastic sent to landfills, and using PCR helps support the recycling infrastructure. Using recycled PET plastic for bottles means less petroleum is needed to make new, virgin resin. Recycled PET also requires less energy and has a lower carbon footprint than virgin PET. For example, PCR may introduce subtle challenges and process considerations so that bottles may have slight variations in color.

Our carton is made from fresh renewable fiber from sustainably managed forests. Our lightweight and recyclable paperboard is an excellent example of sustainable products throughout their life cycle. In addition, our products are either PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forrest Certification), or FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. These programs work throughout the forest supply chain to promote good practices in the forest and ensure that forest-based products are produced with the highest ecological, social, and ethical standards.

Packaging Options & Transportation

We have carefully engineered packaging designs that maximize the packing density of our products, such as the best moisturisers for combination skin, facial cleanser for dry skin and all other products to be shipped while minimizing pallet weight. Our shippers are sized to reduce filling materials and cardboard. In addition, we always try to use the most efficient transportation means and routes and leverage high-quality local suppliers. These careful considerations support our current and future efforts to maintain a shallow carbon footprint.

Why Biotech for Sustainability?

biotech sustainability

We source as many

ingredients that are biotech-manufactured as possible, as these reduce carbon footprint. In addition, biotechnology can deliver more potent, concentrated actives with specific functionality that optimize skin care solutions while minimizing the energy and water needed to manufacture them.

What are biotech activities?

Biotech actives are made in a bioreactor by isolating specific functional plant cells from a natural plant and either just amplifying them (e.g., plant stem cells) or fermenting them with genetically engineered microbes such as bacteria, enzymes and yeast, a process known as bio-fermentation, to create active ingredients that are biological/naturally equivalent to those found in nature. Biotech actives are made under precise, highly controlled process conditions that yield consistently potent, pure/clean ingredients in large quantities that are safe and highly productive.

Why biotechnology?

Biotech combines science and nature within a lab environment to create ingredients that are not only nature-equivalent but that are consistently cleaner and more potent than their natural plant extract equivalents. By leveraging fermentation microbes as miniature chemical factories or selecting plant cells based on their benefits as expressed in skin cells models, new and unique plant-based active ingredients can be created with specific functional properties meant to address the needs of an individual’s skin more safely and efficaciously.

Why are biotech activities better than natural ones?

Biotech activities can be made to avoid negatively impacting nature and the environment. For example, lab-manufactured active ingredients do not require food-producing farmland, utilize much less water and energy than growing and harvesting plants, and don’t require extensive extraction or concentration processes, thereby reducing the ingredient’s carbon footprint and waste production. These biotech-derived ingredients are also free of undesirable pesticides and irritants associated with conventionally grown and extracted plant-based ingredients.

Supporting Biodiversity

biodiversity support

We work with local ethnobotanists and indigenous peoples. We consider everything from the bioavailability of plant species and the ecological impact of organic/biodynamic farming to the local biome and the indigenous community. Our suppliers integrate the entire production chain: from the biomass harvest in the native ecosystem/farm through extraction, concentration, or fermentation of the bio-active.

What is biodiversity?

Biodiversity is all the different kinds of life you'll find in one area — the variety of animals, plants, fungi, and microorganisms like bacteria or fungi that make up our natural world. Each species and organism work together in ecosystems, like an intricate tapestry, to maintain balance and support life. Examples of species include blue whales, tigers, white pines, sunflowers, and yeast.

Why does biodiversity matter?

Biodiversity matters because it is our Planet’s ecological life support system: it enables functioning ecosystems that supply oxygen, clean air and water, pollination of plants, pest control, wastewater treatment, and many other services that maintain ecological well-being. For humans, biodiversity provides for many basic needs, such as food, fuel, shelter, and medicine.

Why are we losing biodiversity?

Human activities and population growth are directly tied to the loss of biodiversity. Key factors include pollution, habitat loss (typically from the conversion of forests, wetlands, grasslands, and other natural areas to urban and agricultural uses), hunting, the introduction of invasive species, overexploitation of preferred species, climate change, and natural disasters.

How do we protect biodiversity?

Buying fewer products, recycling as much as possible, turning lights off, and taking shorter showers will significantly impact biodiversity: less energy consumed and fewer products (clothes, electrical appliances, skincare, etc.) means less raw materials used and less consumer waste. In addition, focusing on local resources is vital: supporting local farms, planting local fruits and vegetables, respecting habitats when traveling, buying products with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or Rainforest Alliance Certified packaging, and saving the bees!

Fair Trade Sourcing

fair trade sourcing, ethical skincare

We support fair trade when we work with local growers and indigenous harvesters. We pay reasonable market prices to local communities. We fully support the Nagoya protocol and invest in building infrastructure for better working conditions and access to healthcare and education. As Aesop (620-560 B.C.) stated long ago, “United we stand, divided we fall. “

Social Standards

Respect for human rights and ethical decision-making is essential in our business, and Codex Beauty operates in an environment of honesty, trust, and transparency. We follow each country's labor laws and are proud of our diversity. We see our team at Codex as a tapestry woven together from threads of all sizes and colors: beautiful in its complexity; strong in its diversity.

Fair Trade

Fairtrade is a worldwide movement that aims to help farmers and producers in less economically developed countries (LEDCs). Fairtrade means that they receive a fair price for the goods they produce. Fair Trade changes business through better prices, decent working conditions, and fair deals.

Nagoya Protocol

The Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit Sharing is a 2010 supplementary agreement to the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity. The Nagoya Protocol establishes a framework that helps researchers access genetic resources for biotechnology research, development, and other activities, in return for a fair share of any benefits from their use. Its aim is the implementation of one of the three objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity: the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the utilization of genetic resources and traditional knowledge, thereby contributing to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

Indigenous Support

When we source plant-based materials that cannot be manufactured yet with biotechnology from indigenous communities, we not only apply Fair Trade principles and work to ensure harvesting does not disturb the local biodiversity, but we also always apply the Nagoya Protocol, even if it is not ratified in the local country or by the USA. Furthermore, while shared generously and with complete openness, we believe that indigenous knowledge must never be taken for granted, so we pay an Indigenous Royalty (I.R.) on all products sold. The local communities can apply this I.R. to support healthcare, education, or other community needs.
