It seems that CBD is everywhere. Tinctures, oils, gummies! What is it and can it help your body? Clear Givings interviewed a woman who had never tried CBD products before and asked her to sample them. (We understand that her experience is completely anecdotal and everyone should make their own decisions.) She has never tried CBD products before and is a little apprehensive about where to start.

"I was unsure how I would react to it, but have been curious for awhile." She tried an oral tincture and a body balm. "I preferred the body balm. It was nice to rub it on my temples or shoulders and I think it relieved a headache I had. The smell was nice. I like the smell of the balm over the taste of the tincture. Will definitely try other CBD products. Maybe a flavored tincture or gummy would be fun."

While its important to note that CBD is still being studied and the benefits are not fully known (and we recommend you discuss your specific health conditions with your doctor), a recent study noted that CBD can help treat some mental health conditions like anxiety disorders and insomnia

Did you know that your body has an endocannabinoid system? The endocannabinoid system is a molecular system responsible for regulating and balancing many processes in the body, including immune response, communication between cells, appetite and metabolism, memory, and more. Our bodies are always trying to establish homeostasis, which is essentially achieving balance in all of its systems. When our body is out of balance, that's when we experience impaired health or, even more disturbingly, disease.

CBD is known for its relaxing features. Unlike THC, the compound found in marijuana, CBD does not have the same psychoactive effect and usually doesn't leave a person feeling intoxicated.

The best way to know how CBD will affect you is to try a few products and experience them for yourself. We have a few vendors with various options ranging from tinctures to oils and lip balm.

CBD is generally considered safe and non-addictive. However, it can cause side effects and should be avoided with certain medications, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a liver condition.
